Savannah to Mombasa
The Experience
The Masai Mara. Then the Indian Ocean. The classic Kenya sequence — and the one that most visitors imagine when they picture an East Africa holiday. The challenge is always execution: juggling two different operators, two sets of logistics, two booking systems. We solves that. He handles the seamless transfer from the Mara airstrip to Mombasa, the Likoni ferry crossing south to Diani, and the moment you step onto the beach with cold drinks in hand. No gaps. No complications. Just the intensity of predator country followed by the total release of the Indian Ocean.
The Itinerary
Nine days tracing the rhythm of the wild.
Nairobi → Masai Mara
Leave Nairobi behind and fly into the vast plains of the Masai Mara. From the airstrip, your first game drive begins almost immediately. Zebra, giraffe and antelope appear across the savannah, with the possibility of lions before reaching camp. Settle in, enjoy dinner and watch the light disappear over the Mara.
Full Day in the Mara
Start before sunrise, when the Mara is at its most active. This is prime time for predators as lions, cheetahs and hyenas move through the cool morning landscape. After a break at camp, return to the plains for an afternoon drive along the rivers and open grasslands. End the day around the campfire beneath a wide African sky.
Mara North + River Crossing
Explore the quieter landscapes of Mara North Conservancy, an area known for excellent wildlife viewing and fewer vehicles. During migration season, the focus turns toward the river crossings; outside these months, the day remains rich in big game and dramatic scenery. A guided walking safari can also be arranged for a closer look at the smaller details of the ecosystem.
Mara → Mombasa Beach
Enjoy one final early game drive before leaving the savannah behind. Fly from the Mara toward Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast, where the landscape changes completely. Continue south to the beach, check in and take your first swim in the warm ocean. Finish the evening with fresh seafood and the sound of the waves.
Mombasa Beach
Today is deliberately unhurried. Swim, walk along the white-sand beach or simply relax beneath the palms. For those wanting more activity, snorkelling, water sports or a dhow sail can be arranged. After several days of safari, the pace now becomes completely different.
Kisite Marine Park
Travel south for a day on the Indian Ocean and explore the waters of Kisite Marine Park. Look for dolphins, colourful reef fish and sea turtles while snorkelling over coral gardens. Lunch is enjoyed near the coast or on a sandbank before returning to the beach in the afternoon.
Final Beach Day
A final full day with no fixed programme. Spend it swimming, reading, walking the shoreline or enjoying one last ocean excursion. It is a day designed simply to slow down and enjoy the coast before the journey home begins
Mombasa → Nairobi
Enjoy a relaxed morning by the ocean before transferring to Mombasa Airport. Fly back to Nairobi and settle in for your final evening in Kenya. The journey has moved from open savannah to tropical coastline — two completely different sides of the country.
