The Itinerary

Nine days tracing the rhythm of the wild.

Kigali → Volcanoes National Park

Morning or afternoon arrival in Kigali. Your private transfer heads northwest through Rwanda’s rolling hillscape — approximately 2.5 hours to Musanze. An optional stop at a roadside viewpoint or market along the way. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the lodge, followed by a ranger briefing for tomorrow. Early night.

The Trek · The Encounter

5:30am departure to Kinigi park headquarters. Ranger briefing covers gorilla behaviour, photography rules, and the 7-metre approach distance. Your group of eight enters the forest and begins the trek — anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours through steep, dense rainforest. Porters are available and strongly recommended. When you locate the family, the hour begins. Silverbacks. Mothers with infants.

Young males testing their confidence. The gorillas carry on their day; you observe from seven metres. Photography permitted — no flash. Return to the lodge by early afternoon. Optional extras: golden monkey tracking, twin lakes walk, or the Dian Fossey tomb

Golden Monkey to Kigali

Morning departure for golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes NP’s bamboo zones. The golden monkey

(Cercopithecus kandti) is endemic to the Albertine Rift. Habituated groups of 30–80 individuals — agile, colourful, and endlessly entertaining. Trek typically 1–2 hours. Back at the lodge by midday before the transfer south to Kigali and arrive early evening, time for a final dinner

Kigali → Mombasa → Diani

Flight from Kigali to Mombasa Airport. Likoni ferry crossing south, then 30 minutes to Diani. Check in. First swim. Sunset seafood dinner on the beach.

Diani · Full Beach Day

Full day at leisure. Ocean swimming, snorkelling on the coral reef, or simply reading under the palms.

Optional: dhow sailing excursion in the afternoon — traditional wooden sailboat, cold drinks, Swahili coast backdrop.

Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park

Optional full-day boat excursion to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park — one of Kenya’s finest snorkelling destinations. Spinner dolphin pods, turtles, and extraordinary coral gardens. Return by late afternoon for the best sunset.

Diani → Mombasa → Nairobi

Final morning on the beach. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and some last moments by the ocean before transferring to Mombasa Airport for your onward flight later in the day. Take in the coastal views one final time and reflect on the journey before departure.
